“வறுமையில் வாடுகின்றோம் நாங்கள்!
சிறு உதவியேனும் செய்ய வேண்டும் நீர்!”
பரிஹாரம் செய்ய அவகாசம் வந்தது!
பெருமகிழ்ச்சி கொண்டான் காமந்தன்
பொன்னும், மணியும் அள்ளித் தந்தான்;
இன்னும் பிறரை அனுப்பச் சொன்னான்.
மகிழ்ச்சிக் கடலில் திளைத்த அந்தணன்
நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறியவற்றைக் கேட்டு
வந்தனர் அநேகர் காமந்தனை நாடி!
நொந்தனர் அவர்கள் அவனைக் கண்டு!
“அந்தப் புதுவள்ளல் நீதானா கள்வா!
இந்தச் செல்வம் நீ ஈட்டியது எப்படி?
மங்கலம் இழந்த பெண்டிர் எத்தனை?
தங்கள் உயிர் தந்த மனிதர் எத்தனை?
நீ என்று அறியாமல் வந்துள்ள எமது
தீ வினை நீங்கச செய்வது எங்கனம்?”
“மாறி விட்டேன் உள்ளம் நான் என்று
கூறுவதை நீர் நம்பத் தான் வேண்டும்!”
“மெய் கூறுவதானால் செய்வாய் இதனை!
ஐயன் விநாயகன் கோவில் அடைந்தது பாழ்!
குறைவின்றி ஆலயத்தைச் சீரமைத்துக்
குறைப்பாய் நீ உன் பாவச் சுமைகளை!”
சிற்பிகள் குழுமினர் சீரமைக்கும் பணியில்;
சிறந்த நந்தவனம் மலர்களைச் சொரிந்தது!
தாமரைக் குளம் தோன்றித் திகழ்ந்தது!
தாழ்வில்லாத குடமுழுக்கும் நிகழ்ந்தது.
திருவிழாக்கள் நடந்தன தொடர்ந்து;
திருப்பணிகள் அளித்தன திருப்தியை.
காமந்தனின் காலம் முடிந்துபோனது.
காலனிடம் இருந்தது பாவப் பட்டியல்.
ஆலயப் பணியினால் செய்த பாவங்கள்
ஆலைவாய்க் கரும்பென அழிந்து ஒழிய;
புண்ணியப் பயனை முதலில் விரும்பி;
கண்ணியப் பிறவி எடுத்தான் காமந்தன்.
தேவநகரில் சௌராஷ்டிரத்தில் சென்று
சோமகாந்தன் என்னும் இளவரசானான்.
வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

“We are suffering due to dire poverty. You must help me sir!” the Brahmin begged KAmanthan, who was overwhelmed that he got an opportunity to do parihaaram for his sins.
He presented the poor man with gold and precious gems. He also made a request,”Please send to me more people who are in need of money and wealth!”
Those who heard the story of the Brahmin rushed to the forest. When they met KAmanthan they became very angry. “So you are the new do-gooder we see. How did you earn all this money? How many women were made widows by you?
How many men lost their lives in your hand? We would have never come to you had we known that it was you! How on earth will we absolve our sins incurred by coming to meet you?”
KAmanthan swore that he had mended his ways and they had to trust his words.
The group of men told him thus: “If what you say is true, then perform this task. The Ganesh temple is in ruins. Restore it to its original glory. Revive the pooja, aaradhana and festivals as before. At least part of your sins will be deleted by this good karma.”
KAmanthan brought all the experts in Aaagama saashtra. The sculptors got to work. Soon the temple was renovated and restored to perfection.
The garden was laden with colorful fragrant flowers. The lotus pond was an added attraction. Kumba abhishekam was performed as prescribed by the saashtra. Festivals followed and puja was resumed.
KAmanthan’s days on earth came to an end. Yama had the long list of all his sins. But the renovation of the Ganesh temple had cancelled out most of his sins.
He was asked by Yama.”Do you want to enjoy the punya of your good deeds first or the paapa of your bad deeds?”
KAmanthan wished to enjoy the punya earned first. So he was born as the crown prince Somakaanthan in Devanagar in SourAshtrA.
